Pet Insurance

Head-to-tail Pet Insurance Coverage
Smallwood Insurance Agency provides pet insurance through Embrace’s easy to understand and robust pet insurance policy that reimburses up to 90% of your pet’s unexpected vet bills. You can personalize your policy, but they all cover:

Accidents
If your pet gets hurt unexpectedly, from a limp paw to swallowed keys, our pet insurance has you covered from consultation and exam fees to surgery at any licensed veterinarian.

Illnesses
If your pup or kitty gets sick, our pet insurance covers every illness from nose to tail with no per-condition limitations.

Dental illnesses
Dental illnesses, including crowns, oral masses, extractions, periodontal disease, gingivitis, root canals, and more, are all covered up to $1,000 per year.

Breed-specific & genetic conditions
Unfortunately genetic conditions such as hip dysplasia, allergies, IVDD, and more are common in our four legged friends. The good news is that our pet insurance covers all hereditary and genetic conditions on every accident and illness policy.

Cancer
Cancer is a common cause of high vet bills for dog and cat owners. Don’t be forced to make a difficult choice. Coverage for cancer and all related testing and treatment is included at no additional cost.

Chronic conditions
Chronic conditions like arthritis, diabetes, and allergies can affect your pet for their entire lifetime. Our pet insurance doesn’t have limitations on coverage for each condition and won’t stop covering them at renewal.
Exam Fees Covered
Smallwood Insurance’s preferred pet insurance company, Embrace, includes coverage for exam and consultation fees in our one simple policy at no additional cost. This extra fee can add up with each visit to your vet or specialists. Not if you are insured here! Some companies make you pay extra for this coverage but not us.

Alternative therapies & rehabilitation
Alternative therapies coverage is included on every policy, for all covered conditions. This can include acupuncture, chiropractic, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, and therapeutic laser treatment.
Behavioral therapy
Behavioral conditions from digging to aggression are not covered with behavioral therapy by some pet insurance companies. We do, on every accident and illness plan.
Emergency veterinary care
If your pet is in need of emergency care, don’t think you have to wait to see your vet. With our policy, your pet would be covered at all emergency care facilities, even after hours.
Specialist care
Veterinary medicine is no longer a one-stop shop. Veterinary specialists are widely available, including oncologists, internal medicine experts, and many more. If your pup or kitty is in need of a specialist, we have you covered.
Diagnostic testing
Diagnostic testing includes fine needle aspirates, biopsies, urinalysis, fecal exams, and more. You are covered for all testing for every covered condition. Don’t let a lack of testing be the reason your pet feels bad.
Hospitalization & surgery
Coverage for hospitalization and surgery includes exam fees, veterinarian and technician time, anesthesia, rehabilitation, follow-up care, and much more.
Prosthetics & mobility devices
If your pet loses a leg to injury or illness, we’ll reimburse for prosthetics, carts, and wheelchairs to keep them mobile. All of this in addition to the necessary surgery and rehabilitation.
Prescription drug coverage
Our prescription coverage reimburses for take-home medications, including pain relievers, antibiotics, and insulin, for all covered conditions. (Optional in some states.)
Choosing the right pet insurance plan for you and your pet is a big decision, but choosing whether to pay extra for things like exam fees, coverage for hereditary conditions, behavioral therapy, or prescription medications shouldn’t be.
That’s why Embrace offers one simple policy to take the guesswork out of great coverage. No matter how you personalize your policy, you can rest easy knowing your pet is covered for the unexpected.

Pre-existing Conditions Explained
A pre-existing condition is any injury, illness, or irregularity noticed by you or your veterinarian before the end of your waiting period, even if your pet never went to see the vet for it.
No pet insurance plan covers pre-existing conditions. However, Embrace distinguishes between curable and incurable pre-existing conditions and covers curable conditions if pets remain symptom- and treatment-free for 12 consecutive months.
Curious if something in your pet’s medical history might be considered a pre-existing condition? Request a free Medical History Review after you enroll and our claims team will review your pet’s medical records to determine if anything would be considered pre-existing and for how long.

Wellness Rewards† for Routine Care
Pet insurance is for unexpected injuries and illnesses, but what about routine care? Embrace offers Wellness Rewards which can be purchased in addition to our accident and illness insurance and reimburses for routine veterinary, training, and grooming costs.
Accident-only Insurance Coverage
Our full accident and illness insurance policy is available to dogs and cats up to the age of 14 at enrollment. For pets 15 years and older, our accident-only insurance coverage is available.
